But here’s the problem, most people have been taught that “love” means:

  • Giving until it hurts, then giving some more

  • Losing yourself in everyone else’s wants and needs so they don’t abandon and reject you

  • Working harder than everyone else to “earn” their love (and never feeling like you deserve it anyway)

  • Changing yourself based on what everyone else wants you to be (i.e. losing that weight or shaving that hair so your partner thinks you’re sexy, driving that car so your coworkers call you cool, or baking 1,278 cupcakes for the school bake sale so the other parents don’t judge you)


None of that is real Love (capital “L”).
